Pshntf.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is pshntf.com?
pshntf.com is a rogue website virtually identical to relstemportsin.club, click-on-this.today, fireaction.fun, and many others. It redirects users to various other websites and displays dubious content.
Research shows that many users visit pshntf.com inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) or intrusive advertisements delivered by other rogue sites. Most PUAs infiltrate systems without users’ permission. As well as causing redirects, they deploy intrusive advertisements and record personal information.
After successful infiltration, PUAs start opening new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to pshntf.com, which in turn causes additional redirects or displays dubious content (depending on the user's location). Whatever actions are carried out by this website and associated PUAs, users might encounter malicious content.
Therefore, redirects to and from pshntf.com can lead to system infection. The same applies to intrusive advertising. Unwanted apps deliver coupons, banners, pop-ups, etc. that, once opened, redirect to potentially malicious websites or execute scripts that download/install other PUAs (or even high-risk malware). Therefore, clicking them might also lead to computer infections.
Intrusive ads are delivered using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they often conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Potentially unwanted applications are notorious for information tracking.
They gather IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, queries entered into search engines, and other similar data relating to browsing activity. Once recorded, this data is shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) to generate revenue.
These people continue to misuse private data to generate even more money - behavior that can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to eliminate all PUAs immediately.

The internet is full of rogue applications, all of which are virtually identical. By offering many "useful features", these applications attempt to give the impression of legitimacy and trick users to install. In fact, the only purpose of all PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers.
Most deliver no real value for regular users - they cause unwanted redirects, deliver ads, and record user-system information, thereby posing a direct threat to your privacy and web browsing safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some PUAs have official download websites, however, due to the lack of knowledge of these threats and careless behavior of many users, these apps often infiltrate systems without permission. Developers proliferate PUAs using "bundling" and intrusive advertising methods. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party programs together with regular software/apps.
They hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users rush these procedures and skip steps. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
The key to computer safety is caution. Therefore, pay attention during the download/installation processes, and when browsing the internet. Select "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully observe each step of the download/installation processes. Opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.
You are advised to download software from official sources only, using direct download links. Third party downloaders/installers are often monetized by promoting ("bundling") unwanted apps, and thus these tools should not be used.
Bear in mind that intrusive ads typically seem legitimate but once clicked, redirect to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and other dubious websites.
If your experience these ads or redirects, immediately remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
