Forms Wizard browser hijacker removal instructions
What is Forms Wizard?
Forms Wizard supposed to provide a quick access to various online forms. However, it is a potentially unwanted application (PUA) that is categorized as browser hijacker. Typically, browser hijackers are designed to promote an address of some fake search engine and gather information related to user's browsing habits. Forms Wizard promotes search.formswizardtab.com, it does it by changing certain browser's settings. It is worth mentioning that quite often people download and install browser hijackers (and other PUAs) unintentionally.
Forms Wizard promotes search.formswizardtab.com (address of a fake search engine) by changing browser's settings such as address of a default search engine, homepage and new tab. It means that its users are forced to visit search.formswizardtab.com when they open a browser/new window, new tab and enter search queries into URL bar. Search.formswizardtab.com is a fake search engine because it is useless - it does not generate unique search results. To be more precise, it provides results generated by Yahoo. If used, it redirects users to search.yahoo.com. In most cases browser hijackers prevent users from removing a certain address from the aforementioned settings by reassigning it after every attempt to modify them. The same applies to Forms Wizard, which means that the only way to stop a browser from opening search.formswizardtab.com on certain occasions is to uninstall this browser hijacker from a browser and the operating system. Furthermore, it is very common that browser hijackers are designed to gather various browsing data. For example, IP addresses, geolocations, addresses of opened pages, entered search queries, and other details. It is possible that an app of this type may be designed to gather sensitive (personal) details as well. Moreover, people behind them tend to sell collected data to third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. Having a browser hijacked by an application like Forms Wizard could lead to problems related to web browsing safety, online privacy or even more serious problems like identity theft. It is recommended not to download and install browser hijackers and if there is one (or more) already installed, then it should be removed as soon as possible.

Typically, they are advertised as useful app that supposed to deliver some features. Unfortunately, most of them do not operate as they were advertised and often cause various problems.
How did Forms Wizard install on my computer?
Most people download and install PUAs unwillingly, unintentionally. They cause it by clicking deceptive advertisements or by inappropriately downloading and/or installing various software. Typically, freeware. People download and/or install unwanted apps together with other software when they are included in its download and/or installation setup. This distribution method is called "bundling". As a rule, information about additionally included apps can be found in "Advanced", "Custom" and their other settings of a download and/or installation setup. However, quite often people leave those settings unchanged and that is how PUAs get a permission to be downloaded and/or installed through a setup of some software that has them included in it.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
It is recommended to download all software from official websites and not to use third party downloaders, Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., torrent clients, eMule), questionable sites and other similar channels for that. Various third party installers should not be used as well. Furthermore, download and/or installation setups often have "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings in them. They should be always checked and offers to download and/or install additional (unwanted) software dismissed. It is worth mentioning that most intrusive ads (especially if displayed on pages related to gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.), if clicked, open potentially malicious pages or cause downloads, installations of various PUAs. Theredore, it is not recommended to click such ads. Unwanted redirects and/or annoying ads usually can be stopped by uninstalling unknown, unwanted or suspicious add-ons, plug-ins or extensions from a browser, and/or programs of this kind from the operating system. If your computer is already infected with Forms Wizard, we recommend running a scan with Spyhunter for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
