How to uninstall SApp+ and Wisip, and terminate unwanted redirects to nvo1d.xyz
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is nvo1d.xyz?
nvo1d.xyz is the address of a fake search engine. Research shows that it is promoted through browser hijackers called SApp+ and Wisip, however, it is possible that other browser hijackers might also promote nvo1d.xyz. Generally, apps of this type promote such addresses by changing browser settings.
Most browser hijackers also operate as information tracking tools and gather data. People often download and install these apps inadvertently and, therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). Note that SApp+ and Wisip are related to another PUA called QIP.
Both SApp+ and Wisip promote nvo1d.xyz by assigning this URL as the address of the default search engine, homepage, and new tab. Research shows that these apps do not change browser settings, however, users are forced to visit nvo1d.xyz regardless - if the apps do not modify settings, they detect when the user enters a search query and then load nvo1d.xyz.
Note that on Chrome, nvo1d.xyz is opened via srchus.xyz, and on Firefox, via searchmes.xyz. These two addresses should not be trusted. Typically, users are forced to visit the address of a fake search engine as long as the particular PUA is installed on their browsers.
Therefore, the only way to stop nvo1d.xyz from being opened on certain occasions is to uninstall SApp+ and Wisip. Furthermore, these apps are likely to collect details such as addresses of visited websites, entered search queries, geolocations, IP addresses and other browsing-related information.
They might also access personal, confidential data. The developers might sell the information to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it in other ways. In summary, browser hijackers can be the reason behind problems such as identity theft, issues relating to browsing safety, privacy, and so on.
SApp+, WisipAny and any other installed PUAs should be remove and never downloaded or installed again. Additionally, never trust fake search engines such as nvo1d.xyz - they can provide misleading results, which can lead to other untrusted, potentially malicious web pages.

guj5.xyz, bhj1.xyz and mkob.xyz are addresses of other fake search engines. Unfortunately, there are many more. Typically, they are promoted through browser hijackers.
In most cases, these apps are advertised as useful and offer various features (improved browsing experience or other value), however, they are useless and simply cause problems. Therefore, never trust, download, or install any browser hijackers.
How did nvo1d.xyz install on my computer?
In most cases, PUAs are distributed by including them into the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This distribution method is known as "bundling" and is used to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs together with other, required programs.
Generally, offers to download and install potentially unwanted apps are listed in "Custom" or "Advanced" settings of the software set-ups, however, many users often leave these unchanged, thereby inadvertently agreeing with offers to download and install additionally-included applications.
Deceptive advertisements can also cause unwanted downloads and installations, however, only if people click them (they then execute certain scripts).
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Files and programs should NOT be downloaded via dubious channels such as Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients), unofficial, dubious pages, third party downloaders, and so on. Also avoid third party installers to install software. These channels are often used to distribute unwanted, malicious software.
All files and software should be downloaded from official websites and via direct links. Check all download and installation settings (such as "Custom", "Advanced") and dismiss offers to download or install unwanted apps. Do not click intrusive ads that appear on dubious web pages, since they can open other untrusted pages or cause download/installation of PUAs.
Remove any unknown, suspicious extensions, plug-ins or add-ons that are already installed on the browser immediately. The same should be applied to software of this kind that is installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
