Radio Hub Online browser hijacker removal instructions

What is Radio Hub Online?

Radio Hub Online is a browser hijacker endorsed as providing easy access to live radio streaming services. In fact, this rogue software modifies browsers, promotes a fake search engine (radiohubonline.com), and tracks browsing-related data. Since most users install Radio Hub Online unintentionally, it is also classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA).

radiohubonline.com browser hijacker

Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and other popular browsers with large user bases are common targets of browser hijackers. Following successful installation, they reassign the homepage, default search engine and new tab/window URLs to the addresses of their fake search tools. With Radio Hub Online installed, each new browser tab/window opened and search query typed into the URL bar redirects to radiohubonline.com. Rogue search engines are useless, since they cannot provide unique results, or the results are inaccurate and/or promote untrusted, malicious websites. The search engine associated with Radio Hub Online (radiohubonline.com) is unable to generate search results and simply redirects to search.yahoo.com (a legitimate search engine). Furthermore, these modifications are not easy to undo - any changes users attempt to make to their browsers are automatically reset, if access to the settings is allowed at all. Therefore, the browser hijacker must be removed to recover the affected browser. Radio Hub Online has data tracking capabilities. It can record browsing activity (URLs visited, web pages visited, search queries, etc.) and personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). This sensitive data is often shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for financial gain. The presence of data tracking content on systems can lead to financial loss, serious privacy issues and even identity theft. To ensure device integrity and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

Maps AssistBright Start, and Convert Your File Now are some examples of other programs classified as browser hijackers. They often seem legitimate and tempt users into download/installation with offers of "useful" features, however, these functions rarely work as advertised and, in most cases, do not work at all. In fact, this applies to most of these unwanted applications. The only purpose of PUAs is to generate profit for the developers. As well as hijacking browsers, PUAs can also force-open rogue and malicious sites, deliver intrusive advertisements and gather private data.

How did Radio Hub Online install on my computer?

Certain PUAs (including Radio Hub Online) have "official" download pages, however, these applications can also be downloaded/installed with other products. This deceptive marketing method of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling". Rushing download and installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, using presets, skipping steps and sections, etc.) increases the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content onto systems. Intrusive ads also spread PUAs. Once clicked, they can execute scripts to make these stealthy downloads/installations.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

You are strongly advised to research all products prior to download/installation or purchase. All downloads should be performed from official and verified sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders are untrusted download channels and should be avoided. When downloading/installing, it is important to read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features and so on. Intrusive ads typically seem normal and harmless, however, they can redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling, etc.). If you encounter these advertisements/redirects, inspect the system and immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with Radio Hub Online, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
