How to uninstall the AnyConverterSearch application

Also Known As: anyconvertersearch.com redirect
Damage level: Medium

What is AnyConverterSearch?

AnyConverterSearch is a browser hijacker, which changes certain browser settings to portal.anyconvertersearch.com or feed.anyconvertersearch.com (addresses of fake search engines).

Commonly, apps of this type collect browsing-related data as well. Browser hijackers are categorized potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), since users often download and install them inadvertently.

anyconvertersearch.com browser hijacker

After installation, AnyConverterSearch sets portal.anyconvertersearch.com or feed.anyconvertersearch.com as the address of the homepage, new tab and default search engine.

Therefore, users who have AnyConverterSearch installed on their browsers are forced to visit one of the aforementioned addresses when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar. Typically, browser hijackers ensure that the changed browser settings cannot be modified or undone as long as they are installed.

Therefore, to stop a browser from opening portal.anyconvertersearch.com or feed.anyconvertersearch.com, AnyConverterSearch must be uninstalled.

Note that portal.anyconvertersearch.com and feed.anyconvertersearch.com is the address of a fake search engine, since it displays results generated by Yahoo (redirects users to search.yahoo.com). Furthermore, browser hijackers such as AnyConverterSearch can collect various data relating to users' browsing habits.

For example, IP addresses, URLs of visited websites, geolocations, entered search queries and other similar details. It is possible that a PUA of this type might also gather personal, sensitive information. The developers misuse the data to generate revenue by selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or in other ways.

Therefore, apps such as AnyConverterSearch can lead to problems relating to browsing safety, online privacy and even identity theft.

SearchProConverter, Templates Discovery Tab and My Office Tools are also classified as browser hijackers - there are many other examples. Typically, apps of this type promote fake search engines and track information. The developers promote them as useful, legitimate applications, however, these apps do not have any valid features or improve the browsing experience.

On the contrary, they simply cause problems. Therefore, remove all browser hijackers immediately.

How did AnyConverterSearch install on my computer?

Typically, users download and install potentially unwanted apps inadvertently through the set-ups of other programs when they are included as 'additional offers'. Many users fail to check and change "Custom" and "Advanced" settings, thereby allowing included PUAs to infiltrate. This distribution method is known as "bundling".

Unwanted downloads and installations can also be caused by clicking deceptive advertisements that execute certain scripts.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

Programs and files should not be downloaded or installed through unofficial websites, third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule), etc. Use official websites and direct links. Check all settings such as "Custom" and "Advanced" and decline offers to download or install additional software before finishing the process.

Do not click intrusive ads that appear on dubious websites, since they can open untrusted websites or cause download/installation of unwanted, potentially malicious applications. Remove any suspicious, unwanted extensions, add-ons or plug-ins already installed on the browser immediately.

The same should be applied to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with AnyConverterSearch, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
