Hp.myway.com redirect removal instructions
What is hp.myway.com?
FormFinderHQ is one of the apps designed by Mindspark Interactive Network. Its main purpose is to promote hp.myway.com (address of a fake search engine) by modifying certain browser settings. Apps designed to promote fake search engines are classified as browser hijackers. It is worthwhile to mention that quite often browser hijackers are designed to collect various information. Another detail about apps of this type is that most of the times users download and install them unknowingly, therefore, they are called potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
FormFinderHQ promotes hp.myway.com by making it as an address of a default search engine, homepage and new tab. It is designed to make sure that its users would visit hp.myway.com when they open a browser, new tab and enter search queries into its URL bar. It is a fake search engine because it does not generate its own results. Typically, fake search engines display results generated by Google, Yahoo, Bing, or other legitimate search engines. Although, there are search engines of this type that include links to questionable websites in their results/generate misleading results. As a rule, browser hijackers do not allow users to change their settings as long as they are installed. It means that address of fake search engine can be removed from browser settings only after uninstallation of browser hijacker. In this case hp.myway.com can be removed/changed to some other address when the FormFinderHQ app is uninstalled. Additionally, browser hijackers can be (and often are) designed to gather various browsing-related information. For example, IP addresses, addresses of visited pages, geolocations, entered search queries, and other data of this kind. However, there are browser hijackers that collect sensitive details as well. What is worse, gathered information could be sold to third parties and/or misused to generate revenue in other ways. In such cases users could become victims of identity theft, experience problems related to online privacy, browsing safety, or other issues.

There is a great number of various browser hijackers on the Internet (e.g., Satellite And Earth Maps, Go To My News, Insta Forms Finder). Usually they supposed to improve browsing experience and/or be useful in some other way. However, instead of operating as they were advertised most browser hijackers change browser settings to promote fake search engines and gather various data. Apps of this type could be the reason behind various problems as well. Therefore, any installed browser hijacker (or other PUA) should be uninstalled.
How did FormFinderHQ install on my computer?
It is common that users download and/or install browser hijackers or other PUAs through setups of other programs - when apps of this type are included in their download and/or installation setups. As a rule, offers to download and/or install PUAs can be declined in "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings of setups. Although, not all users check and change these settings and that is how they allow for PUAs to be downloaded or installed together with some other, wanted software. This distribution method is known as "bundling". Additionally, unwanted downloads and installations can be caused by clicking deceptive advertisements. However, it applies only to ads that are designed to run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
It is advised not to use third part downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (like torrent clients, eMule), unofficial sites, and other similar channels as tools to download or install any software. Files and programs should be downloaded only from official pages, and via direct links. Offers to download and/or install unwanted apps should be declined before completing download and/or installation processes. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, it can be done through "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings of setups. Intrusive ads that are shown on suspicious, questionable websites should not be clicked as well. They can be designed to open various untrustworthy websites or even cause downloads, installations of unwanted applications. If there are any unwanted extensionsl plug-ins, and/or add-ons installed on a browser, then they should be removed from it. Programs of this kind that are installed on a computer should be uninstalled too. If your computer is already infected with FormFinderHQ, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
