How to remove AnalyzerSkill from Mac?

What is AnalyzerSkill?

AnalyzerSkill is designed to function as adware and a browser hijacker, it serves various advertisements and promotes address of some fake search engine by changing certain browser settings. Moreover, it can access sensitive information. In most cases users download and install apps like AnalyzerSkill unknowingly, unintentionally. For this reason they are called potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).

AnalyzerSkill adware

It is common that adware-type apps like AnalyzerSkill serve advertisements that are designed to promote (open) questionable pages. Also, they can be designed to cause unwanted downloads and/or installations by executing certain scripts. Some examples of ads that apps like AnalyzerSkill display are coupons, banners, surveys, pop-up ads. As mentioned in the introduction, this app is designed to promote some fake search engine/its address. As a rule, such apps do it by assigning a certain address as a default search engine, homepage and URL of a new tab. In most cases adware-type apps, browser hijackers promote search engines that do not generate any unique, individual results - they provide results generated by some other, legitimate search engine (like Yahoo, Google). That is why they are called fake. Also, in some cases they can be designed to generate misleading results (include links to unreliable pages in their results). Furthermore, AnalyzerSkill is capable of accessing (collecting) sensitive information such as credit card details, passwords, telephone numbers and some other data. Such information could be misused to make fraudulent purchases, transactions, steal identities, accounts and/or for other malicious purposes. It means that users who would have AnalyzerSkill installed on a browser and/or computer may become victims of identity theft, lose access to various accounts, suffer monetary loss, have problems related to web browsing safety, online privacy, and/or other issues. Therefore, AnalyzerSkill should never be downloaded and installed.

AnalyzerSkill is very similar to many other apps, for example, ValidGeneration, AssistiveFile and AdjustableProduct. Usually they are advertised as useful apps that supposed to improve browsing experience, include some features, etc. Nevertheless, most of them are designed only to generate revenue for their developers, and are useless to their users. If an app of this type is already installed, then it should be uninstalled right away.

How did AnalyzerSkill install on my computer?

Quite often potentially unwanted applications are integrated in downloaders and/or installers of other programs as additional offers. As a rule, offers to download and/or install those apps can be found and declined in "Advanced", "Custom" or other settings of setups. When users finish download and/or installation processes without checking and changing those settings, they allow for included apps (PUAs) to be downloaded and/or installed as well. Sometimes PUAs are distributed through deceptive advertisements that, if clicked, download and/or install them by running certain scripts.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to check "Advanced", "Custom" or other settings of download and/or installation setups and see if they mention offers to download and/or install unwanted applications. Software, files should be downloaded from official pages and via direct download links. Third party downloaders, unofficial sites, Peer-to-Peer networks like torrent clients, eMule, third party installers should not be used neither to download or install any software. Advertisements that appear on questionable pages (e.g., on pages related to gambling, adult dating) should not be clicked as well - those ads can be designed to promote untrustworthy websites or cause download and/or installations. Any unwanted, unknown and/or suspicious extensions, add-ons or plug-ins that are installed on a browser should be removed, programs of this kind that are installed on the operating should be uninstalled too. If your computer is already infected with AnalyzerSkill, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
