How to uninstall AdjustableProduct adware from Mac computers
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is AdjustableProduct?
AdjustableProduct is an adware-type app, which might also function as a browser hijacker. It serves advertisements and could be capable of changing browser settings to promote a fake search engine. Additionally, it might also collect certain information.
Typically, users download and install apps such as AdjustableProduct unintentionally and, therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Usually PUAs such as AdjustableProduct serve ads in the form of pop-ups, coupons, banners, surveys, etc. Commonly, users who click these ads allow them to open dubious web pages or even execute scripts designed to cause download/installation of unwanted, potentially malicious apps.
Furthermore, this app might change browser settings such as the address of the default search engine, homepage, and new tab, to the address of a fake search engine. Typically, these bogus search engines do not generate unique results (they provide results by another legitimate search engine), or they provide results that can include links to untrusted web pages.
AdjustableProduct and similar apps often gather information relating to users' browsing activities. For example, IP addresses, geolocations, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries and other browsing data. Sometimes they record private, sensitive details.
The developers sell all gathered data to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misuse it to generate revenue in other ways. Therefore, adware-type apps such as AdjustableProduct can cause problems relating to privacy, browsing safety, and so on. Some users might even become victims of identity theft.

Adware-type apps and browser hijackers are useless for regular users and designed only to generate revenue for the developers (even if they are advertised as useful, legitimate applications). If an app of this type is installed on the browser and/or computer, remove it immediately.
More examples of PUAs similar to AdjustableProduct are BoostCoordinator, InitialWindow and ConnectionFormat.
How did AdjustableProduct install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/installation (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well.
When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission. Some PUAs have "official" download web pages.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to download files and programs only from official web pages and through direct download links. Other sources and tools such as unofficial websites, third party downloaders and installers, Peer-to-Peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule, and so on, can be used to promote unwanted, potentially malicious applications.
Check all "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings, and decline offers to download or install potentially unwanted software. Furthermore, you are advised against clicking advertisements that are displayed on dubious, untrusted pages. They can promote (open) other untrusted websites or cause download/installation of unwanted apps.
Remove any unwanted extensions, add-ons and plug-ins already installed on the browser. The same applies to programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system/computer. If your computer is already infected with AdjustableProduct, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
