How to uninstall apps that promote nwithough.top

Also Known As: Ads by nwithough.top
Damage level: Medium

What is nwithough[.]top?

nwithough[.]top is a bogus website that opens other sites of this kind or loads dubious content. It is similar to sbecome[.]online, emindeed[.]top, sionremai[.]fun and many other rogue websites.

Note that users do not often visit these sites intentionally - they are opened by browsers that have potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on them.

nwithough[.]top pop-up redirects

Typically, once pages such as nwithough[.]top are visited, they open other untrusted pages that are used to promote rogue applications, contain bogus advertisements, etc., or they load dubious content.

Most use 'clickbait' techniques to trick their visitors into clicking the "Allow" button, which then allows them to show notifications - nwithough[.]top states that the button needs to be clicked to continue loading the page. These sites should never be given permission to show notifications, since they can contain links to other dubious pages, untrusted ads, etc.

Note that PUAs can be designed to generate coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, and other types of ads. If clicked, these open untrusted websites and can execute scripts to download and install unwanted applications.

Additionally, PUAs can record data. Commonly, they target details such as IP addresses, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations, and other browsing data. They might also gather private, sensitive information. The data is monetized by selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misused to generate revenue in other ways.

To summarize, do not trust nwithough[.]top or PUAs that open this bogus site.

As mentioned, PUAs can also collect various user-system information. Therefore, users might be at risk of problems relating to browsing safety, online privacy, and even identity theft. These apps are classified as potentially unwanted because, in most cases, users download and install them inadvertently.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are distributed via download/installation set-ups of other products. This deceptive marketing tactic of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".

Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and settings, etc.) increases the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system.

Some PUAs have "official" download sites. Intrusive advertisements proliferate these applications as well. Once clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

You are advised to download files and programs from official websites and via direct download links. Other tools and sources such as third party downloaders and installers, unofficial pages, and Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients) should not be used to download or install software.

Check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings (or available checkboxes) for offers to download and/or install unwanted apps. Do not click ads on dubious websites, since they can be designed to open bogus web pages or cause unwanted downloads and installations.

Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser, and software of this kind from the operating system.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
