What kind of application is Live-Secure?
Live-Secure is a browser hijacker that our team has discovered while examining questionable web pages. After installing this application, we found out that it hijacks a web browser by changing some of its settings to live-secure.xyz - it promotes a fake search engine.
Live-Secure browser hijacker in detail
Live-Secure promotes live-secure.xyz by making it the default search engine, homepage, and new tab page. Live-secure.xyz is a fake search engine because it shows results generated by Bing (it redirects to bing.com). Bing is a legitimate search engine owned by Microsoft. However, fake search engines can promote shady websites and (or) show results generated by untrustworthy search engines.
Typically, users of browsers hijacked by apps like Live-Secure cannot modify the affected settings while those apps are present. It is required to remove browser hijackers to undo their changes. A removal guide for browser hijackers and fake search engines is provided below.

Browser hijackers in general
Browser-hijacking applications are designed to promote fake search engines. Not all of them change settings. A big part of these apps is promoted/distributed using questionable methods and presented as useful/legitimate apps. It is important to know that browser hijackers can be used to gather information about users.
How did Live-Secure install on my computer?
In most cases, browsers get hijacked via applications downloaded from deceptive websites, advertisements designed to execute certain scripts, and installers for other software. The third distribution method is known as "bundling". It works when users finish installations without changing "Custom", "Advanced", or similar settings (without deselecting unwanted apps).
How to avoid installation of unwanted applications?
Deselect unwanted apps (in this case, browser hijackers) before downloading and installing software. It can be achieved by changing the settings provided in downloaders and installers. Also, do not click on advertisements or notifications displayed by questionable web pages.
Use official pages and platforms as sources for downloading files and applications. Avoid using third-party downloaders, P2P networks, shady pages, and similar sources. If your computer is already infected with Live-Secure, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
