PathMaxx virus removal instructions
What is PathMaxx?
PathMaxx is a potentially unwanted application created by SuperWeb LLC and is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. This add-on claims to improve the quality of users' Internet browsing experience by displaying website trust ratings, enabling coupons and comparison shopping, and adding other functionality. Although PathMaxx may seem legitimate, Internet users should be aware that it is considered to be adware. PathMaxx infiltrates browsers using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which stealthily installs additional applications along with the chosen free software. After successful infiltration, Pathmaxx generates various intrusive advertisements, including interstitial, transitional, text link, banner, search, and full page ads.
In addition, this potentially unwanted browser extension tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording information including IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, browser information, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc. While PathMaxx is not technically a virus, its presence on your system may lead to serious privacy issues, identity theft, or malware infections. SuperWeb LLC, the developers of PathMaxx, have released over a hundred identical browser extensions under different names including, for example, Fralimbo, Findopolis, and DoughGo. This strategy is undertaken to avoid detection by legitimate anti-virus and anti-malware software. None of the aforementioned browser plug-ins, including PathMaxx, add any real value for Internet users. The purpose of these potentially unwanted applications is to generate income by the display of intrusive online advertisements.
Most current freeware download websites such as soft32.com, download.com, softonic.com, and many others, use 'download clients' to monetize their free services. Download clients are small programs offering installation of advertised browser add-ons along with the chosen freeware. Thus, reckless downloading and installation of free software may result in adware infections and other serious consequences. To avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications, including PathMaxx, closely inspect each installation step and decline installation of any promoted browser add-ons. Choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal a list of any bundled applications and you will be able to decline installation. Internet users who observe "Ads by PathMaxx", "PathMaxx Deals", or "Powered by PathMaxx" advertisements when surfing the Internet should follow this removal guide to eliminate PathMaxx adware from their Internet browser/s.
