Jotzey Virus removal instructions
What is Jotzey?
Created by SuperWeb LLC, Jotzey is a potentially unwanted browser extension optimized for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. This browser add-on claims to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and adding other functionality. Although the Jotzey plugin may seem legitimate, users should be aware that it is considered to be adware. Jotzey infiltrates browsers without users' consent using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of hidden applications along with the chosen software). Once installation is complete, the plug-in generates various intrusive advertisements including interstitial, banner, text link, transitional, search, and full page ads.
In addition, the Jotzey virus tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording information such as URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, browser details, IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, and other hardware and software information. This kind of behavior may lead to additional adware or malware infections. There are many identical browser extensions released by SuperWeb LLC including, for example, Alleybrowse, Mokiray, and PathMaxx. Neither Jotzey, nor any other of these plug-ins, add any real value for the user. By releasing identical browser extensions under different names, SuperWeb LLC attempts to avoid detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus programs. The main purpose of these add-ons is to generate revenue for the company by displaying intrusive online advertisements, and this income is associated with the number of active users.
Most adware such as Jotzey is distributed via 'download managers', which are employed by freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com. Download managers are small programs offering installation of advertised browser extensions along with the chosen free software. Internet users should express caution when downloading free software since users who recklessly download and install free software may infect their computers with adware. To avoid installation of Jotzey or any other potentially unwanted applications, pay close attention when downloading freeware and decline installation of any advertised browser plugins. When installing downloaded software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Regular' or 'Quick' - this will reveal any bundled browser add-ons and you will be able to decline installation. If you observe 'Ads by Jotzey', 'Powered by Jotzey', or 'Jotzey deals' advertisements when browsing the Internet, use this removal guide to eliminate adware from your computer.
