PursuePoint removal instructions
What is PursuePoint?
Developed by SuperWeb LLC, the PursuePoint rogue browser add-on claims to improve the quality of users' Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and adding other useful functionality. Although this may seem a legitimate browser plug-in, be aware that it is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware. PursuePoint employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' consent. After successful infiltration, PursuePoint generates various intrusive online advertisements including search, banner, text-link, transitional, interstitial, and full-page ads. There is a high probability that clicking these ads will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, this potentially unwanted browser add-on continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various information, which may be personally identifiable. For example: Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, entered search queries, URLs visited, pages viewed, unique identifier numbers, and other similar details. This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft, and therefore, you are strongly advised to remove PursuePoint from your Internet browsers. SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred potentially unwanted applications identical to PursuePoint (such as ResultsBay, Yawtix, and Adanak). Neither PursuePoint, nor any of these other plug-ins, add any real value for the user. This company releases identical browser add-ons under different names with the intention of avoiding detection by legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware suites. Their purpose is to generate income by the display of intrusive online advertisements.
Commonly, Internet users infect their PCs with adware when downloading free software via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites (such as soft32.com, download.com, and softonic.com). Download clients are used to monetize these websites' free services by offering installation of promoted browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Thus, careless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of PursuePoint or any other potentially unwanted applications, pay close attention during the download of freeware and never accept installation of any additional applications offered. If you are installing downloaded software, choose the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any bundled applications and allow you to remove them from the installation list. Internet users who have already installed PursuePoint and observe intrusive advertisements including "Ads by PursuePoint", "PursuePoint Deals", and "Powered by PursuePoint", should follow this removal guide to eliminate PursuePoint adware from their Internet browsers.
