HypeNet removal instructions

What is HypeNet?

Developed by a company called 'SuperWeb LLC', HypeNet is a rogue browser extension claiming to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and other functions. Although this functionality may seem useful and legitimate, be aware that HypeNet is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The developers of this PUP employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install HypeNet on Internet browsers without users' permission. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, HypeNet generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.

HypeNet Ads

These intrusive advertisements include banner, interstitial, transitional, text-link, search, and full-page ads. It is highly probable that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections. Furthermore, this rogue browser add-on continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by recording various information such as IP addresses (to determine users' geographic locations), unique identifier numbers, search queries entered into search engines (Google, Bing, etc.), website URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar details that may be personally identifiable. This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft, and for this reason, you are strongly advised to eliminate HypeNet from your Internet browsers. SuperWeb LLC has released several hundred rogue browser extensions identical to HypeNet (for example, Shopping Assistant, Quantum Look, and DizzyDing). None of these add any real value for the user. This company releases identical browser plug-ins under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-virus and anti-spyware software. The main purpose of these PUPs is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements.

Most users infect their computers with HypeNet, or other adware, during download of free software via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites including download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, and many others. Download managers are used to monetize these websites' free services, since they offer installation of promoted (according to SuperWeb LLC, '100% virus-free') browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Thus, download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. Installation of HypeNet, or other potentially unwanted programs, can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional applications is offered. Furthermore, users who are installing downloaded software should select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If you have already installed HypeNet and observe "Ads by HypeNet", "HypeNet Deals", or "Powered by HypeNet" advertisements while browsing the Internet, follow this removal guide to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
