ArcadeGiant removal instructions
What is ArcadeGiant?
Created by ArcadeYum LLC, ArcadeGiant is a rogue application claiming to entertain users by allowing them to play flash games. On initial inspection, this may seem legitimate and useful functionality, however, be aware that ArcadeGiant is considered to be adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). The developers of this rogue extension employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install ArcadeGiant on computers without users' consent. Bundling is a way to stealthily distribute applications together with other software, and therefore, most users inadvertently install ArcadeGiant during download of free software from freeware download websites. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, ArcadeGiant generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
The types of advertisements generated by this PUP include pop-up, banner, pop-under, coupon, and transitional ads. Clicking these advertisements is likely to cause high-risk adware or malware infections. In addition, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since ArcadeGiant collects various software and hardware information such as operating system and browser types, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifier numbers, geographic locations, search queries entered, URLs visited, pages viewed and other similar details that may be personally identifiable. This information tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or identity theft, and therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall ArcadeGiant from your Internet browsers.
ArcadeGiant is similar to other adware type extensions that employ bundling as an installation method. For example: PriceFountain, KNCTR, FabulousDiscounts, and Offer Boulevard among many others. None of these (including ArcadeGiant) provide any value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements, enforcing unwanted browser redirects, and sharing collected information with third parties. Research shows that most adware is distributed via small programs called 'download clients' on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, and many others. Download clients are used by these websites as free service monetization tools, since they offer installation of promoted '100% virus-free' browser plug-ins together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware risks system infection with adware or malware. This situation can be avoided by paying close attention when downloading free software and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered. Furthermore, all software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed ArcadeGiant, and you experience intrusive online ads, read the following removal guide and eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.
