Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014

Also Known As: Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 scam
Damage level: High

What is Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014?

Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 is a fake security scanner derived from a family of similar rogue programs called Braviax/FakeRean. This bogus software was designed and developed by cyber criminals to make money by tricking PC users into purchasing a useless license key.

To achieve its deceptive goal, this rogue program performs fake security scans and delivers lists of supposedly-detected malware and Trojans.

Furthermore, Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 displays fake security warning messages and makes operating system registry modifications to further scare PC users into believing that their computers are infected with high-risk malware.

Systems are commonly infiltrated with rogue security scanners such as these when users are tricked into downloading them by fake online security warning pop-ups. PC users should realise that there are no legitimate online security scanners - this is simply a misleading strategy employed by cyber criminals to distribute their fake antivirus programs.

If your computer is infiltrated with Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014, do not trust the malware detection list - none of the security threats identified by this program are genuine.

Paying for any program from the FakeRean/Braviax family is equivalent to sending your money to cyber criminals - you will lose your money and divulge your banking information, potentially leading to further thefts from your account.

Deceptive methods of spreading Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 include fake software updates, fake video codecs, Trojans, and drive-by downloads. Cyber criminals have recently started using the Asprox botnet to spread infected email messages, which install rogue antivirus programs on computer systems.

Note that the same botnet is used for proliferating crypto ransomware. For example: CryptoWall and CryptoLocker. Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 should not be mistaken for legitimate antivirus software - it is a scam.

Immediately following successful infiltration, fake antivirus programs from this family display a fake security scanner with a name adapted from the infected computer's operating system.

For example: Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 on computers running the Windows 8 operating system would appear as Rango Win 8 Antispyware 2014; Windows XP users would be presented with a program called Rango XP Antivirus 2014; and so on.

Best practices to protect your PC from these rogue security scanners include using legitimate antivirus and antispyware programs and keeping your operating system's installed programs up-to-date. If your PC is infected with this scam, use the removal instructions provided to eliminate Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014 from your PC.

Other tools known to remove Rango Win 7 Antispyware 2014:

Summary:

The fake antivirus programs (also known as "rogue antivirus programs" or "scareware") are applications that tries to lure computer users into paying for their non-existent full versions to remove the supposedly detected security infections (although the computer is actually clean). These bogus programs are created by cyber criminals who design them to look as legitimate antivirus software. Most commonly rogue antivirus programs infiltrate user's computer using poop-up windows or alerts which appear when users surf the Internet. These deceptive messages trick users into downloading a rogue antivirus program on their computers. Other known tactics used to spread scareware include exploit kits, infected email messages, online ad networks, drive-by downloads, or even direct calls to user's offering free support.

A computer that is infected with a fake antivirus program might also have other malware installed on it as rogue antivirus programs often are bundled with Trojans and exploit kits. Noteworthy that additional malware that infiltrates user's operating system remains on victim's computer regardless of whether a payment for a non-existent full version of a fake antivirus program is made. Here are some examples of fake security warning messages that are used in fake antivirus distribution:

Computer users who are dealing with a rogue security software shouldn't buy it's full version. By paying for a license key of a fake antivirus program users would send their money and banking information to cyber criminals. Users who have already entered their credit card number (or other sensitive information) when asked by such bogus software should inform their credit card company that they have been tricked into buying a rogue security software. • Alerts asking to upgrade to a paid version of a program to remove the supposedly detected malware.
  • Slow computer performance.
  • Disabled Windows updates.
