SlickSignet removal instructions
What is SlickSignet?
SlickSignet is a potentially unwanted program that claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience by enabling advanced email-related features. On initial inspection, this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, be aware that SlickSignet is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program. These associations are made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) employed by SlickSignet to install on Internet browsers together with the chosen software. After successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, this rogue application generates intrusive online advertisements such as banner, pop-up, in-text, and coupon ads. Clicking advertisements generated by this rogue application is likely to cause high-risk adware or malware infections.
Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually monitored, since SlickSignet collects various software and hardware information that might be personally identifiable. For example: Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries entered, cookies, web beacons, and of course, e-mail addresses together with other similar details. This information tracking may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. SlickSinget is similar to other rogue applications, which claim to improve the Internet browsing experience in various ways. Examples include SaveZ, Friday Frenzy, Coupon Alert, and Speederu among many others. Neither SlickSignet, nor any of these other applications, provide any significant value for the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online ads and sharing collected data with third parties. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall SlickSignet from your Internet browsers.
Close examination of SlickSignet reveals that it is mostly distributed via small download programs (called 'installers', 'download managers', 'download clients', etc.) used by freeware download websites such as soft32.com, download.com, softonic.com and many others. Download programs are used by these websites as free services and traffic monetization tools, since they offer installation of advertised (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') browser add-ons together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. This situation can be prevented by closely observing each step of the free software download procedure and never accepting installation of any additional programs offered. Furthermore, software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal any concealed applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If you have installed SlickSignet, and you experience intrusive online ads while surfing the Internet, follow the removal guide provided to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
