PrestoSavings removal instructions
What is PrestoSavings?
Created by Engauge Marketing, LLC, PrestoSavings is a browser add-on claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts available within online stores. This may seem legitimate and useful functionality, however, be aware that Presto Savings is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program. Presto Savings employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' to install on Internet browsers without users' permission. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Presto Savings generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
This application generates numerous intrusive online advertisements such as banner, coupon, pop-up, and price comparison ads. There is a high probability that clicking these advertisements will cause further adware or malware infections. Additionally, PrestoSavings collects various software and hardware information that may be personally identifiable. For example: URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, cookies, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and other details. This information tracking may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft. PrestoSavings is similar to other applications that claim to enable identical features. Deals Finder, BuyNsave, ShoppingOn, DealCola, and PriceFountain are just some examples. Presto Savings, and these other applications, provide no significant value for the user. Browser plug-ins of this type are developed to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online ads and sharing collected data with third parties. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate Presto Savings from your Internet browsers.
Close examination of PrestoSavings reveals that most users install this adware when downloading free software from freeware download websites. Popular freeware download websites (such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, etc.) use small programs called 'download managers' as free services and traffic monetization tools. These applications offer installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate and virus-free') browser extensions together with the chosen software. Therefore, not paying close enough attention during freeware download and installation is usually the main reason for adware and malware infections. To avoid installation of PrestoSavings, closely inspect each step of the free download process and click 'Decline' if installation of any other programs is offered. Furthermore, if you are installing downloaded software, choose the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If your computer is infected with Presto Savings, read the following removal guide and uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
