SwiftSearch removal instructions

What is SwiftSearch?

The SwiftSearch application claims to simplify Internet searching by allowing users to highlight and immediately search on any word online. Although some users may find this functionality legitimate and useful, Swift Search is classed as adware. This negative association is made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of third party applications together with the chosen software) employed by the developers to distribute and install Swift Search on Internet browsers without users' consent. After infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Swift Search displays intrusive online ads - behavior similar to regular adware. Generated advertisements such as in-text transitional, in-text link, comparison shopping, and coupons are likely to redirect users to bogus websites containing infectious content, thereby causing further high-risk adware or malware infections.

Swift Search adware

Swift Search records various Internet browsing-related information including browser type and data (URLs visited, search queries entered, pages viewed, cookies, web beacons, etc.), Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, and so on. Some of the collected information may be personally identifiable, and therefore, the presence of this rogue application on your system could result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Be aware that SwiftSearch has similar or identical behavior to other regular adware. There are hundreds of rogue applications claiming to enable various useful Internet browsing-related features. For example: MediaPlayer, Primary Color, Dragon Branch, and Online Video Promoter. None provide any of the features promised - in fact, they diminish system performance, display intrusive online ads, and share collected information with third parties to generate revenue. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall Swift Search from your system immediately.

Close examination of Swift Search reveals that it is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites such as download.com, soft32.com, and softonic.com. Download managers (also called 'download managers' and 'installers') are employed to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of third party applications together with the chosen software. In some cases, additional programs are simply hidden within the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options. Although the developers claim that these advertised applications (including Swift Search) are legitimate, they are mostly adware or malware. To avoid such infections, pay close attention to each step of the free software download procedure and never accept offers to install third party applications or browser add-ons. Furthermore, software downloaded from the Internet should be installed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options - this will reveal any additional programs listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Swift Search, the following guidelines will help you to remove this adware from your system.
