Jump Flip Adware

Also Known As: Ads by Jump Flip
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is Jump Flip?

Jump Flip is a deceptive application developed by SuperWeb LLC. According to this company, Jump Flip enhances the Internet browsing experience by displaying coupons, enabling comparison shopping, and other similar features

- "We're passionate about improving web by providing the best tools to enhance the browsing experience, from searching the web to comparing online deals to find the best prices. We've combined all of our great ideas into the Jump Flip product suite, a FREE set of tools that work to make your browsing experience... better!"

At first glance, Jump Flip may seem legitimate and useful, however, it is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.

Jump Flip usually infiltrates Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox without users' permission, which is one of the reasons for these negative associations. Furthermore, this app collects various Internet browsing-related information and displays intrusive online ads.

Jump Flip adware

Jump Flip employs a virtual layer to display search, pop-up, interstitial, transitional, full page, banner, coupon, and other types of advertisements. Some even open in new browser tabs/windows, thereby increasing the chance of accidental user clicks. Advertisements generated by this adware mostly redirect to online stores or other similar e-commerce websites.

Others, however, may redirect to bogus websites containing infectious content. Thus, clicking them can lead to further computer infections. In addition, the Internet browsing experience is diminished, since the ads conceal underlying website content and users must avoid clicking them.

Jump Flip collects various Internet browsing-related information including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other details. This might be private information (such as bank account login/passwords), which is later shared with third parties.

Therefore, the presence of Jump Flip on your system can result in serious privacy issues or identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall this PUP.

Jump Flip Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:

We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.

Jump Flip is identical to hundreds of other PUPs developed by the same company. The Results Hub, Record Page, Sail Deals, Giants Galaxy, and Sale Clipper are just some examples from a long list. SuperWeb LLC releases identical applications under different names to prevent detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites.

This company uses apps such as Jump Flip to generate revenue by displaying adverts and collecting personally identifiable data. Neither Jump Flip, nor any other adware developed by SuperWeb LLC, provides the features promised - they are useless to the user.

How did Jump Flip install on my computer?

Jump Flip is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs with the chosen software), and thus, it usually installs without users' consent.

This method is effective, since many users do not pay enough attention when downloading and installing software and skip some/all of the download and installation procedure steps including the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. Bogus apps such as Jump Flip are concealed within this section, and by skipping it, users inadvertently install PUPs.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

Software should be downloaded and installed with great caution. Each step of the software download procedure should be closely analyzed, and all offers to install additional programs, declined. Furthermore, installation of downloaded apps should be performed using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings - this will reveal any bundled software listed for installation and allow you to cancel it.
