Go2jump.org redirect removal instructions
What is go2jump.org?
Identical to tradedoubler.com, pipeschannels.com, becanium.com, and many others, go2jump.org is a deceptive site that redirects to a number of other suspicious websites. Research shows that users often visit go2jump.org inadvertently - they are redirected by various potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that infiltrate systems during installation of regular software. As well as causing redirects, PUPs deliver intrusive advertisements and continually record user-system information.
PUPs open a new browser window and redirect to go2jump.org. After visiting go2jump.org, users are immediately redirected to another random website that might also be malicious. These redirects can lead to high-risk adware or malware infections. In addition, PUPs deliver banner, coupon, pop-up, and other similar advertisements. These ads conceal underlying content (thereby diminishing the browsing experience), but might also lead to sites also containing malicious content. Therefore, clicking them risks further computer infections. Be aware that PUPs record user-system information that might be personally identifiable (for example, IP addresses, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc.) PUP developers share this data with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who generate revenue by misusing private information. Therefore, the presence of information-tracking apps can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Uninstall all PUPs immediately.
The Internet is full of PUPs, all of which are virtually identical. By offering various 'useful features' (for example, improved Internet search results, quick access to popular websites, file compressing functionality, computer performance optimization, etc.), PUPs attempt to give the impression of legitimacy, however, their only purpose is to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no value. In fact, PUPs cause unwanted redirects (thereby increasing traffic of certain sites), deliver intrusive advertisements (via the "Pay Per Click" advertising model), and continually record private data (which is later sold to third parties).
How did adware install on my computer?
To proliferate PUPs, developers employ a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" and hide all bundled programs within the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings of the download/installation processes. Rushing and skipping this section thus exposes systems to risk of various infections and compromises users' privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of PUPs can be prevented by taking two simple steps: 1) closely analyze each download/installation step, and; 2) decle offers to download/install additionally-included programs. The key to computer safety is caution.
