Blueseek.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is blueseek.com?
As with greatdexchange.com, cobalten.com, dentially.info, and many others, blueseek.com is a rogue website that redirects users to various other untrustworthy and potentially malicious sites. In most cases, users visit these websites inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) or through intrusive advertisements.
As a rule, these PUPs are also installed inadvertently or without users' permission. Once installed, they start to cause redirects (in the same way as the blueseek.com website). They also collect sensitive information and deliver intrusive ads.
In this case, the installed potentially unwanted program usually opens new browser windows or tabs and redirects to blueseek.com, which then opens various other (usually 2-3) websites. It is very likely that at least one of these websites will contain malicious content. Therefore, websites such as blueseek.com can cause computer infections.
PUPs are also known to provide pop-ups that, once clicked, redirect users to dubious websites or even execute scripts that cause stealth installation (or download) of malicious software. These PUPs can also trigger graphical ads on any website and, in doing so, prevent you from viewing underlying content.
These actions can be very annoying and affect your browsing experience. In some situations, you could be forced to click an ad to remove it and are then redirected to a malicious website. As mentioned earlier, potentially unwanted programs tend to collect information about users, such as IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and so on.
Collected data can (and probably will) be shared with third parties and used to generate revenue. These actions could lead to privacy issues or even identity theft. There is no reason to keep PUPs installed on your computer and you are advised to uninstall them immediately.

There are many PUPs that are very similar and cause identical problems. Their developers usually offer 'useful features' and claim that they are legitimate, however, there is usually no real value in them. Potentially unwanted programs of this type are designed only to generate revenue, rather than providing the features promised.
How did adware install on my computer?
In many cases, potentially unwanted programs are available to download from official websites, however, users are often tricked into downloading them rather than installing them willingly/knowingly. Programs of this type are installed using the "bundling" method or the aforementioned intrusive ads.
"Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party programs with regular software (apps) downloaded from the Internet. Developers hide them in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options of the installation (or download) processes.
Furthermore, many users tend to skip installation steps without first checking settings and developers do not disclose "bundled" PUP installations properly. This situation often leads to inadvertent installation of PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Install software carefully. Do not skip installation steps without taking a closer look at the details, especially if the downloaded software is free. Check all available installation settings and options ("Custom", "Advanced", and similar) that allow you to choose whether you want to install additional features or programs.
Do not download software from untrustworthy/unofficial websites or torrents - use official sources only. Do not click suspicious ads or buttons, especially from untrustworthy/unofficial websites.
Have antivirus software installed on your computer and keep it enabled at all times. If your computer is already infected with blueseek.com, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
