What is hp.myway.com?
Developed by Mindspark Interactive Network (also known as IAC Applications) TV Guru is a deceptive application that claims to allow users to watch movies online free of charge.
Judging on appearance alone, TV Guru may seem legitimate and useful, however, this app is categorized as a browser hijacker and a potentially unwanted application (PUA), since it promotes a fake search engine and infiltrates systems without permission.
This browser hijacker targets Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. Immediately after infiltration, TV Guru assigns the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options to hp.myway.co. Although these changes may seem significant, users are unable to revert them.
Research shows that TV Guru continues to reassign browser options when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, as long as this PUA is present, returning browsers to their previous states is impossible and users are encouraged to visit TV Guru when they open a new browser tab or search via the URL bar.
This significantly diminishes the browsing experience. Furthermore, many browsers hijackers record sensitive information relating to web browsing activity.
The presence of an information-tracking app might thus lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft - recorded data could include personal details that are misused to generate revenue. For these reasons, you are advised to uninstall the TV Guru browser hijacker immediately.

Mindspark Interactive Network has released dozens of identical browser-hijacking applications. For example, EverydayLookup, FromDocToPDF, SmartEasyMaps, and so on. Note that these apps offer different functionality, but all have identical behavior - they modify browser options to promote a fake search engine.
These apps are designed only to generate revenue for the developers, and thus deliver no real value for regular users. In addition, some fake search engines generate false results and intrusive advertisements leading to dubious (potentially, malicious) websites and high-risk computer infections.
How did TV Guru install on my computer?
Although TV Guru has an official download website, it is likely to infiltrate systems without permission, since developers proliferate it using intrusive advertisements and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Intrusive ads redirect to malicious websites and execute scripts that download/install potentially unwanted applications or even high-risk malware.
"Bundling", on the other hand, is stealth installation of third party programs with regular (usually free) apps. Developers hide "bundled" apps within various sections (usually "Custom" or "Advanced" settings) of the download/installation processes - they do not disclose this information properly.
Furthermore, many users click advertisements and skip download/installation steps, often leading to inadvertent installation of PUAs - they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Lack of knowledge and careless behavior are the main reasons for unwanted installations. The key to computer safety is caution. To prevent system infiltration by PUAs, be very cautious when browsing the Internet and downloading/installing software.
Remember that intrusive ads typically seem legitimate, since developers invest many resources into their design, however, they typically lead to untrustworthy sites such as gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on. Most are delivered by adware-type PUAs. If you encounter suspicious ads, immediately remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins.
Furthermore, we strongly advise you to carefully analyze each download/installation step (especially "Custom/Advanced" options) and opt-out of additionally-included programs.
Download software from official sources only, using direct download links - third party downloaders/installers often include rogue programs, and thus should never be used. If your computer is already infected with TV Guru, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.

A browser hijacker is a type of adware infection that modifies Internet browser settings by assigning the homepage and default Internet search engine settings to some other (unwanted) website URL. Commonly, this type of adware infiltrates operating systems through free software downloads. If your download is managed by a download client, ensure that you decline offers to install advertised toolbars or applications that seek to change your homepage and default Internet search engine settings.
