Uncreast.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is uncreast.com?
uncreast.com is virtually identical to many other rogue websites that include supervid.pro, news-io.com, and newsforyou.pro. This site is designed to cause unwanted redirects and display dubious content.
Typically, people do not visit uncreast.com intentionally - they are redirected to it by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that cause redirects to rogue websites such as uncreast.com, feed users with advertisements, and collect data. Users often install these apps inadvertently without their knowledge.
These unwanted apps force users to visit uncreast.com by opening the site in new browser tabs or windows. The website then causes redirects to other untrustworthy sites (about two or three) or displays deceptive, dubious content. These actions depend on the user's location. In any case, it is possible that some users might be forced to visit malicious sites or encounter other risks.
Another disadvantage of having PUAs installed is that they often serve users with ads such as pop-ups, banners, surveys, coupons, and so on. It is difficult to ignore them, since they are usually displayed using tools that enable third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content.
This is annoying and, furthermore, when clicked, these ads often cause redirects to untrustworthy websites, some of which might be malicious and cause computer infections. Ads delivered by PUAs are sometimes capable of executing scripts designed to download/install other unwanted applications.
Another negative aspect of applications of this type is that most collect browsing-related (and other) data, such as entered search queries, geo-locations, URLs of visited websites, IP addresses, etc. Some also record personal, sensitive information.
Developers of these apps share the data with third parties (often cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. Thus, having these applications installed can lead to privacy/browsing safety issues or even identity theft.

There are many unwanted applications available, most of which are very similar. Developers offer supposedly useful tools, features, and so on, however, these promotions are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy to trick people into downloading and installing PUAs.
Unfortunately, most PUAs have just one purpose: to generate revenue for their developers. Few provide the functions promised and the majority cause unwanted redirects, deliver advertisements, and collect user-system information.
How did adware install on my computer?
Some PUAs can be downloaded from their official websites, however, most people install them unintentionally, since developers promote them using intrusive ads and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". This method is used to trick people into installing PUAs by hiding them in settings of the installation or download set-ups such as "Custom", "Advanced", and so on.
Information regarding the inclusion of these apps in set-ups, or details of modifications to browser settings, is not properly disclosed. Nevertheless, none of this can be achieved without users' permission. Therefore, most people inadvertently allow these apps to be installed by skipping installation/download steps and leaving all options and settings unchanged.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
You are advised to download software using official and trustworthy website or other reliable sources, especially if your chosen software is free. Do not use third party software downloaders (or installers), peer-to-peer networks such as torrent clients, eMule and other such tools, unofficial websites, and so on.
Study each download or installation step with care: check all available options, settings (such as "Custom", "Advanced", etc.), and checkboxes. Opt-out of any offers to install or download unwanted software, and only then complete the installation or download procedure. Avoid clicking intrusive ads, especially if they are displayed on unofficial, untrustworthy websites.
These usually redirect to dubious or malicious websites such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, and others of this kind. If you experience redirects to these websites, check your browser plug-ins, extensions, and add-ons, and remove any suspicious entries.
Also check the list of installed programs on your computer. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
