Terjuscalbuttont.info POP-UP Redirect

Also Known As: terjuscalbuttont.info pop-up
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is terjuscalbuttont[.]info?

Like many other websites of this type, terjuscalbuttont[.]info is designed to cause redirects to other untrustworthy, potentially malicious websites or to display dubious content. Some examples of websites that are similar to terjuscalbuttont[.]info include vercallactont[.]com, butitereventwil[.]info, and refrebrepheon[.]info.

People do not generally visit this site intentionally - they are redirected to it by potentially unwanted apps (PUAs) installed on their default browsers (or operating systems). PUAs often feed users with unwanted advertisements and collect information relating to users' browsing activity.

terjuscalbuttont[.]info pop-up redirects

When installed, PUAs force browsers to open dubious websites (such as terjuscalbuttont[.]info) in new tabs or windows. This particular site then redirects users to other pages of this kind (about two or three). Opened websites might contain malicious content. Therefore, redirects to and from terjuscalbuttont[.]info can lead to computer infections with malware.

Rather than causing redirects, however, this page might also display dubious content. Its behaviour depends on the user's geolocation. Furthermore, having unwanted apps of this type installed usually forces users to encounter intrusive advertisements such as pop-up ads, banners, coupons, surveys, etc,.

Typically, they are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. These ads conceal underlying content of visited pages and, if clicked, open dubious, deceptive websites or execute scripts designed to download/install unwanted apps. PUAs usually gather data relating to users' browsing habits.

They collect data such as entered search queries, URLs of visited websites, geolocations, IP addresses and other browsing-related data.

It is possible that some might also record sensitive, personal information. To generate revenue, PUAs developers share the data with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. Some of these third parties might be cyber criminals. We recommend that you remove all installed unwanted apps immediately.

Typically, developers advertise these apps as useful, useful tools, however, only a small part provide their users with the offered functions. Very often these apps are designed only to generate revenue for their developers by delivering ads and recording various information and causing redirects.

These actions might cause users problems with privacy, browsing safety and so on. Some people might end up having their identities stolen.

How did adware install on my computer?

Typically, people download and install these apps inadvertently when they click ads designed to run scripts (that cause unwanted downloads/installations) or during download and installation of other software.

This occurs when software developers use the "bundling" method - they include unwanted apps into setups of software that users wish to download and install intentionally. Developers hide information about the bundling/inclusion of PUAs in settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar sections.

If people leave these settings unchecked/unchanged, they often allow PUAs to be downloaded and installed together with other software.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

To prevent potentially unwanted applications from being downloaded and installed, all software should be downloaded from official, trustworthy websites and using direct download links. Other sources/tools such as third party downloaders, installers, unofficial websites, torrent clients, eMule and other Peer-to-Peer networks should not be used.

Additionally, check all the "Custom", "Advanced" and other options when downloading and installing software, especially if the software is free. Deselect all included PUAs first, and only then proceed to the next setup step or finish the entire process.

Note that intrusive advertisements, especially if displayed on untrustworthy websites, redirect users to potentially malicious websites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on).

If unwanted redirects or ads occur often, we strongly recommend that you check for any unwanted/unknown extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons installed on the browser and to remove them immediately. The same applies to unwanted programs installed on the operating system.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
