Easy Classifieds Tab browser hijacker removal instructions
What is Easy Classifieds Tab?
Easy Classifieds Tab is advertised as an app that provides quick access to classified ads, which users can supposedly access directly from a new browser tab. In fact, after installation, Easy Classifieds Tab changes browser settings to promote hp.heasyclassifieds.co (or search.heasyclassifieds.co), the address of a fake search engine. Apps that operate in this way are classified as browser hijackers. Typically, people do not download or install them intentionally and, for this reason, they are also classified as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). Furthermore, most PUAs gather information relating to users.
Easy Classifieds Tab changes settings such as the default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL by assigning them to hp.heasyclassifieds.co. The main purpose of these changes is to force users to visit hp.heasyclassifieds.co when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar. Typically, users cannot undo these changes unless they uninstall the app that hijacked the browser - most browser hijackers reassign settings when attempts are made to modify or revert them. Note that hp.heasyclassifieds.co is presented as a useful search engine, however, it is useless and generates no unique results. It simply provides results generated by Yahoo (by redirecting users to search.yahoo.com). For this reason, hp.heasyclassifieds.co is classified as a fake search engine. Furthermore, hp.heasyclassifieds.co and Easy Classifieds Tab collect user-system information. For example, IP addresses, geolocations, addresses of visited websites, entered search queries and other, possibly sensitive, details. Developers of these apps and fake search engines share the information with third parties (often, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. People who use browser hijackers and fake search engines risk to privacy/browsing safety issues or even becoming victims of identity theft. Therefore, uninstall Easy Classifieds Tab and any other browser hijackers immediately.

There are many browser hijackers on the internet. Some examples are Get Directions Now, Directions Maps Finder, and Power App. Generally, they change browser settings/promote fake search engines and record details relating to users' browsing habits. They are generally useless and simply cause problems. Remove all browser hijackers and do not use dubious, fake search engines.
How did Easy Classifieds Tab install on my computer?
Few people download and install browser hijackers or other PUAs intentionally. In most cases, they download/install them through intrusive ads that they willingly or accidentally click, or though the set-ups of other (usually free) programs. Unwanted downloads/installation via deceptive ads happen when the ads run scripts that download or install an unwanted app. This happens only when people click them. In other cases, PUAs are downloaded or installed with other software - they are included in download or installation set-ups. Typically, information about these additionally-included apps can be found in setup options such as "Custom", "Advanced", etc., however, many people leave these settings unchanged, thereby granting permission for PUAs to be downloaded and installed through the set-ups of other programs that people download and install intentionally.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Do not download or install software from unofficial web pages, through third party downloaders, installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (eMule, torrent clients, etc.), or other tools/sources. They are often used to distribute unwanted apps. The safest way to download programs and files is using official websites and direct download links. Download/installation set-ups often contain settings such as "Advanced", "Manual", "Custom", and so on. These settings might include offers to download/install additional applications. Therefore, check these settings and dismiss any offers relating to additional downloads or installations. Do not click ads displayed on rogue websites, however, note that dubious ads can also appear on legitimate web pages. When clicked, they redirect to untrustworthy websites or cause unwanted downloads/installations. To stop browsers from opening dubious web pages or displaying ads, uninstall all unwanted or suspicious apps (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed. Also remove software of this kind installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with Easy Classifieds Tab, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
