Stop Web Gamer World from hijacking your browser

What is Web Gamer World?
Web Gamer World is rogue application endorsed as a tool for quick access to free online games. It allegedly provides easy access to popular action, adventure, sports, racing, girls, puzzle, strategy, and other genre games.
It is classified as a browser hijacker and Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA), since it makes unauthorized changes to browsers and promotes a fake search engine (webgamerworld.com). Additionally, This PUA monitors users' browsing activity. Note that this app is often distributed with another PUA called Search Defender Prime.
Browser hijackers are designed to target Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and other popular browsers. After successful infiltration, they assign their fake web search addresses as the browser homepage, default search engine, and new browser tab/window URLs.
With Web Gamer World installed, each new tab/window opened and each search query typed into the URL bar redirects to webgamerworld.com. Most fake search engines are unable to provide unique results, and therefore redirect to (or cause redirection chains ending with) a legitimate search engine.
This is true in the case of webgamerworld.com, which redirects to search.yahoo.com. These changes may seem easy to undo, yet without removing the browser hijacker, it is impossible. The rogue app can limit/deny access to browser settings and/or automatically reset any changes made by users.
Web Gamer World also has data tracking abilities, which it employs to record users' browsing habits (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, etc.) and to collect their personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). This vulnerable data can then be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for financial gain.
To summarize, browser hijackers and other PUAs can cause various browser/system infiltration and infections, as well as lead to severe privacy issues, financial losses and even identity theft. To ensure device and user safety, remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

Get Breaking News, GiffySocial, Listen To Radios, and Classsifieds List App are some examples of other browser hijackers similar to Web Gamer World. In fact, most PUAs share certain similarities. They are designed to appear legitimate and tempt users into downloading/installing them with offers of "useful" functions.
In fact, these features rarely operate as advertised and, in most cases, are nonoperational. The sole purpose of all unwanted content is to generate revenue for the developers, while regular users receive no value.
Rather than delivering any useful features, PUAs hijack browsers, cause redirects to untrustworthy/malicious websites, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns and track sensitive data.
How did Web Gamer World install on my computer?
The most common mode of PUA proliferation is via the download/install setup of other programs. This deceptive marketing tactic of packing ordinary software with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".
By rushing through the download and installation processes (e.g. ignoring or skipping terms, skipping steps and sections, using pre-set options, etc.), many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled applications onto devices. Some of these apps (e.g. Web Gamer World) also have "official" promotional pages, on which they are typically advertised as "free" and "useful".
Intrusive advertisements can infiltrate PUAs into the system as well. When clicked, they execute scripts designed to download/install unwanted applications without users' consent.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Research all content, before downloading/installing. Use only official and verified download channels. Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.), unofficial and free file-hosting websites, third party downloaders and similar sources are untrustworthy and should be avoided.
Dubious download channels are more likely to offer deceptive and bundled programs. Download and installation processes should be approached with caution. Read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of downloading/installing supplementary apps, tools, functions, etc.
While commonly hosted by compromised web pages, intrusive ads may seem legitimate and harmless, however, when clicked, they redirect to rogue sites such as gambling, pornography, adult-dating and others.
If you encounter ads/redirects of this type, inspect the device and immediately remove all dubious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with Web Gamer World, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
