How to remove Free Package Tracker Promos adware

Also Known As: Ads by Free Package Tracker Promos
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is Free Package Tracker Promos?

Free Package Tracker Promos is categorized as adware and promoted as a free tool for easy access to various package tracking services. It operates by running intrusive advertisement campaigns. Therefore, it delivers unwanted, deceptive and even harmful ads.

Furthermore, it gathers browsing-related information. Due to its dubious proliferation methods, Free Package Tracker Promos is also classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA).

Free Package Tracker Promos adware

Free Package Tracker Promos enables placement of third party graphical content on any visited website. Adware delivers pop-ups, surveys, banners, coupons and other ads. These significantly affect the browsing experience, as they limit browsing speed and website visibility (by overlaying web pages).

Additionally, once these ads are clicked, they redirect to sale-based, untrusted, rogue, deceptive/scam, compromised and malicious web pages. Some intrusive ads can even be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install rogue software.

PUAs are prime examples of content infiltrated into systems in this manner. As well as running intrusive ad campaigns, these apps can also force-open dubious and dangerous websites. Other types can hijack browsers by making modifications to settings, restricting or denying access to them, and promoting fake search engines.

Furthermore, most PUAs (including adware) have data tracking capabilities - Free Package Tracker Promos is no exception. It can record users' browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect their personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details).

The gathered data is likely to contain sensitive information, which can be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit. The presence of PUAs on devices can therefore lead to system infiltration and infections, serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft.

To ensure device integrity and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.

WebDiscover, Holiday Radio Promos, and Easy Forms Today are some examples of other adware infections. This software often seems legitimate and tempts users into download/installation with offers of "useful" functions, however, these features rarely work as promised and, in most cases, do not work at all. In fact, this applies to all PUAs.

Unwanted applications have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers. Regular users receive no genuine value and can experience serious issues. PUAs deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, force-open untrusted and malicious web pages, hijack browsers and track private data.

How did Free Package Tracker Promos install on my computer?

Some PUAs (including Free Package Tracker Promos) have "official" promotional pages, from which they can be downloaded, however, PUAs proliferate in many other ways. They can also be downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing method of pre-packing normal software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".

When downloading/installing, ignoring terms, skipping steps, and using pre-set options increases the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content onto your system. When clicked, intrusive ads can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' permission.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

All products should be researched prior to download/installation or purchase. Use only official and verified download channels. Avoid free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule, etc.) and other third party downloaders, as they are untrusted and can offer deceptive or bundled content.

Treat download and installation processes with caution. Read the terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and decline download/installation of additional apps, tools, features and so on.

Intrusive ads usually seem legitimate and harmless, however, they can redirect to highly dubious sites (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and others). If you experience these advertisements/redirects, inspect the system and immediately remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins.

If your computer is already infected with Free Package Tracker Promos, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
