What is yursd.xyz?
yursd.xyz is the address of a fake search engine. These dubious web search tools are commonly promoted by rogue software, classified as browser hijackers. This promotion is performed by modifying browser settings. Additionally, most fake search engines and browser hijackers monitor users' browsing activity.
As a result of the dubious methods used to spread these apps, they are also classified as Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs).
Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and other popular browsers are common targets of browser hijackers. They operate by assigning the addresses of fake search engines as the homepage, default search engine and new tab/window URLs.
For example, with a browser hijacker promoting yursd.xyz installed, each search query typed into the URL bar and new browser tab/window opened redirects to this address. These bogus search engines have no genuine value, as the results they provide are often inaccurate and/or promote untrusted and malicious websites.
Furthermore, these modifications cannot be undone without removing the browser hijacker, since any changes made by users are automatically reset, if access to the browser settings is permitted at all. As mentioned, most browser hijackers have data tracking capabilities.
They can record browsing activity (URLs visited, web pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information derived from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The developers of browser hijackers monetize this sensitive data by sharing it with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) intent on misusing it for profit.
Therefore, the presence of data-tracking software on devices can lead to serious issues, financial loss and even identity theft. To ensure browser/system integrity and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

club-search.com, go-movix.com, and cosappzsearch.online are some examples of bogus search engines similar to yursd.xyz. They may seem normal and harmless, yet they are unable to provide useful search results and simply record browsing data. CapitaSearch, Find Local Classifieds, and ConvertPDFToWord are some other examples.
Many users are tempted into download/installation with offers of various functionalities, however, the advertised capabilities are usually nonoperational, and this is typical of most PUAs. These unwanted apps have just one purpose: to generate revenue for the developers. Regular users receive no real value and can experience serious problems.
How did yursd.xyz install on my computer?
PUAs are often downloaded/installed with other programs. "Bundling" is the term used to define this deceptive marketing method of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions. Rushing download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps, using pre-set options) increases the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content onto the system.
Some PUAs have "official" promotional sites from which they can be downloaded. Intrusive advertisements proliferate these applications as well. When clicked, they can execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to research all software before download/installation or purchase. All downloads should be performed only from official and verified sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting sites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule, etc.) and other third party downloaders are untrusted, as they can offer deceptive and/or bundled content.
It is important to approach download/installation processes with care. Read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features and so on. Intrusive ads may seem normal and innocuous, however, they can redirect to dubious websites (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and others).
If you encounter ads/redirects of this kind, inspect the system and remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
