Easycool web browser hijacker removal instructions
What is Easycool web?
Easycool web is a typical browser hijacker - it changes certain browser settings an address of a fake search engine, tailsearch.com. Additionally, it can read information related to user's browsing habits. It is uncommon for users to download and install browser hijackers knowingly, intentionally. For this reason Easycool web is categorized as potentially unwanted application (PUA).
Easycool web promotes tailsearch.com by assigning it as the address of a default search engine, homepage and new tab so that users would visit it when they search the web by entering search queries into URL bar, open a browser or new tab. As a search engine tailsearch.com is completely useless - it redirects users to bing.com via my-search.com and search-checker.com or to google.com. I other words, this fake search engine does not generate unique results, it provides results generated either by Bing or Google. It is common that when users have their browsers hijacked by apps like Easycool web they cannot undo the changes that were made by those apps unless they uninstall them. Therefore, tailsearch.com can be removed from browser settings only when Easycool web is no longer installed. Additionally, browser hijackers can be designed to collect various information. For example, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, IP addresses, etc. In some cases apps of this type can access personal details/information as well. Moreover, their developers may sell gathered data to third parties (potentially cyber criminals) or misuse it to generate revenue in other ways. Therefore, apps like Easycool can be the culprit of issues related to online privacy, web browsing safety or even identity theft.

How did Easycool web install on my computer?
Very often users downloaded and/or install browser hijackers and other types of PUAs together with other programs, when PUAs are included in download and/or installation setups as additional offers. This distribution method is known as "bundling". Unwanted downloads and/or installations are caused when users download and/or install programs without declining the aforementioned offers which can be done using "Advanced", "Custom", or other settings of setups. Additionally, it is possible to cause unwanted downloads, installations by clicking deceptive advertisements can be designed to execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent unwanted downloads and/or installations it is advised to download files, programs only from official websites and via direct download links. It is not safe to use third party downloaders, installers, unofficial websites, Peer-to-Peer networks and other similar tools, sources to download (or install) any software. Also, it is important to always check what are "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings of any download and/or install setup and decline offers to download and/or install integrated apps. Quite often it can be done by unticking certain checkboxes as well. One more way to avoid unwanted downloads, installations is not to click advertisements that appear on shady pages. If there are any unwanted, suspicious extensions, add-ons, plug-ins installed on a browser, then it is recommended to remove them. The same should be done with programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with Easycool web, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
