Dosearch Lite browser hijacker removal instructions
What is Dosearch Lite?
Dosearch Lite is the name of a browser that promotes the tailsearch.com address, a fake search engine. Typically, browser hijackers promote such addresses by making certain changes in browser's settings. It is known that Dosearch Lite gathers data related to user's browsing habits as well. Typically, users download and install browser hijackers unknowingly, therefore, apps like Dosearch Lite are called potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
As mentioned in the first paragraph, browser hijacker is a type of app that promotes the address of some fake search engine by modifying certain browser's settings. Typically, it does that by changing settings such as the address of a default search engine, homepage and/or new tab. It is known that Dosearch Lite does not always change those addresses to tailsearch.com. However, when it does not make any modifications, it detects when users enter search queries into URL bar and redirects them to tailsearch.com anyway. Depending on the geolocation of its visitors, tailsearch.com redirects them either to google.com or bing.com (via my-search.com and search-checker.com, a couple of other shady addresses). Simply said, tailsearch.com does not generate any unique results, it provides results generated either by Yahoo or Bing. It is worthwhile to mention that a hijacked browser can be stopped from causing redirects to a certain address only by uninstalling the app that has hijacked it. In this particular case tailsearch.com can be stopped from being opened by uninstalling Dosearch Lite or some other app that is designed promote this address. Another reason not to have any browser hijacker installed is because apps of this type tend to be designed to gather various information related to user's browsing activities and/or other details. For example, addresses of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations, IP addresses, and other browsing data, and/or even sensitive information. Their developers can sell all collected data to third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who would misuse it to generate revenue. Users who have their browsers hijacked by apps like Fantasic Movies may become victims of identity theft, experience problems related to privacy, browsing safety, and/or other issues. Therefore, any installed software of this type should be uninstalled from a browser and/or computer as soon as possible.

There is a great number of browser hijackers on the Internet, some more examples are StreamSearchFinder, GoIncognitoSearch and VideoSearchNet. Typically, they are advertised as apps that supposed to improve browsing experience (include various features, generate accurate search results, etc.) and/or be useful in some other ways. Although, in most cases apps of this type are designed only to modify browser's settings and/or gather various information. In other words, they are useless to their users and can cause them various issues.
How did Dosearch Lite install on my computer?
More often than not PUAs are distributed by including them in download and/or installation setups of other programs. This distribution method is known as "bundling". It works when users download and/or install programs without declining offers to download and/or install PUAs that are included in their download and/or installation setups. In most cases can be declined via "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings, or by unticking certain checkboxes. Another way to unintentionally download and/or install PUAs is by clicking deceptive advertisements that are designed to run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Typically, unwanted downloads and installations can be avoided by checking download and/or installation setups for settings like "Custom", "Advanced" (or certain checkboxes) and declining offers to download and/or install additionally included apps. Also, it can be achieved by downloading programs (and files) only from official, legitimate websites and via direct download links. Other sources like third party downloaders, Peer-to-Peer networks (for example, torrent clients, eMule), unofficial websites, etc., can be used to distribute unwanted apps (the same applies to third party installers). Additionally, unwanted downloads and/or installations can be avoided by not clicking advertisements that appear on unreliable, unofficial pages. It is common that those ads are designed either to open potentially malicious websites or cause unwanted downloads, installations. If there are any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins, and/or add-ons installed on a browser or programs, then they should be removed. Programs of this kind that are installed on a computer should be uninstalled too. If your computer is already infected with Dosearch Lite, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
