What is ISportSearch?
ISportSearch is a browser hijacker that operates by changing browser settings - to promote the isportsearch.com fake search engine. Additionally, software within this category usually spies on users' browsing habits. Due to the questionable methods used to distribute browser hijackers, they are also deemed to be PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications).
ISportSearch browser hijacker in detail
Browser hijackers reassign browsers' homepage, default search engine, and new tab/window URLs - to fake web searcher addresses. These alterations seriously affect the browsing quality. To elaborate, with ISportSearch installed: new browser tabs/windows opened and search queries typed into the URL bar - redirect to isportsearch.com.
Fake search engines typically cannot provide search results, so they tend to redirect (or cause redirection chains leading) to Yahoo, Bing, Google, and other genuine ones. Isportsearch.com is not an exception to this; at the time of research, it redirected both to Yahoo (search.yahoo.com) and searchlee.com. The latter is an illegitimate web searcher, and while it can generate search results - they are inaccurate and may promote unreliable/malicious content.
Furthermore, browser hijackers can undo any changes users try to make to their browsers. In other cases, they restrict or deny access to the browser settings outright. Therefore, restoring a hijacked browser is impossible without removing the software affecting it.
Most browser hijackers have data tracking abilities. They record browsing activity (URLs visited, webpages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect sensitive information extracted from it (IP addresses/ geolocations, personally identifiable details, etc.). The gathered data is then shared with and/or sold to third-parties.
To summarize, the presence of data-tracking software on devices can lead to severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. Therefore, it is advised to remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

Browser hijackers in general
GameSearchNow, FreeSportSearch, TopSearchConverters, GameSearchIt, and ProStreamSearch are some examples of browser hijackers. They appear legitimate and offer "useful" features. However, the advertised functions are seldom operational.
Practically all PUAs use nonexistent functionalities to lure users into download/installation. The sole goal of unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers. PUAs operate by hijacking browsers, causing redirects, running intrusive ad campaigns (adware), and collecting private data.
How did ISportSearch install on my computer?
PUAs can be downloaded/installed alongside other products. This deceptive marketing technique of packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious additions - is called "bundling". Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., ignored terms, skipped steps, etc.) increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the device.
Intrusive advertisements are used to distribute PUAs as well. Upon being clicked, the ads can execute scripts to make downloads/installations without consent. PUAs may also have "official" promotional websites from which they can be downloaded and/or purchased.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
It is highly recommended to research products before download/installation. Only official and verified download channels must be used. Dubious sources, e.g., unofficial and freeware websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - commonly offer bundled/harmful content.
When downloading/installing, it is advised to read terms, study available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out from additional apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive adverts appear ordinary; however, they redirect to various questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and so forth).
Should users experience such ads and/or redirects, they must check their devices and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected. If your computer is already infected with ISportSearch, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
