Text info adware overview

Adware enables the placement of third-party graphical content (various advertisements) on visited websites and/or different interfaces.

The delivered adverts endorse online scams, untrustworthy/harmful sites and software, and even malware. Some intrusive advertisements are capable of infiltrating software into devices upon being clicked.

Any legitimate products encountered through these ads are highly unlikely to be endorsed by their developers. Instead, this promotion is undertaken by scammers abusing the products' affiliate programs to obtain illegitimate commissions.

Advertising-supported software may require certain conditions to run intrusive advertisement campaigns. It may need the browser/system or user geolocation to be compatible, visits to particular websites to be made, or similar - in order to display adverts. However, regardless of whether text info (or other adware) delivers ads - its presence endangers device/user safety.

What is more, text info has data tracking abilities. Information of interest can include: browsing-related data, personally identifiable details, log-in credentials, credit card numbers, and so on. The collected data can be shared with and/or sold to third-parties.

In summary, the presence of software like text info on devices can lead to system infections, serious privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

Adware examples

We have analyzed thousands of adware samples; Fast PDF Readerframe orderLittle-Light, and BlockAll - block ads are merely some examples. This software appears legitimate and offers "useful" features. However, the advertised functionalities are seldom operational.

How did text info install on my computer?

We acquired text info from a dubious download page. Adware is distributed through promotional webpages and scam sites. Most users enter such pages via redirects caused by mistyped URLs, websites using rogue advertising networks, spam browser notifications, intrusive ads, or installed adware (with browser force-opening capabilities).

Additionally, advertising-supported software is proliferated using the bundling marketing technique - packing regular program installers with unwanted/malicious supplements. Download from untrustworthy channels (e.g., unofficial and freeware sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc.) and rushed installations increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the device.

Intrusive adverts spread adware as well. Once clicked on, some of these advertisements can execute scripts to make downloads/installations without user consent.

How to avoid installation of adware?

We highly recommend researching software and downloading only from official/verified channels. Another recommendation is to exercise caution when installing, which includes - reading terms, exploring possible options, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opting-out of all supplements.

We also advise exercising caution when browsing since fraudulent and malicious content appears legitimate. For example, intrusive ads look harmless yet redirect to unreliable/questionable websites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).

If you encounter such advertisements and/or redirects, check the device and immediately remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with text info, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
