What is CasinoRewards?
The CasinoRewards application claims to provide the latest casino-related news. Some users might find this app legitimate and useful, however, CasinoRewards is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
The developers distribute this application using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of additional programs together with regular software.
After infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, the CasinoRewards app generates various intrusive online advertisements (banner, in-text, interstitial, etc.), which appear on most pages visited. Clicking these ads exposes your system to risk of infection, since they are likely to redirect to bogus websites containing infectious content.
As with regular adware, CasinoRewards continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity and collects various browsing-related information. This recorded information includes (but is not limited to) operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine geographic locations), browser type, websites visited, and pages viewed.
Some of this information may contain personally identifiable details, and therefore, having CasinoRewards installed on your system can result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. There are hundreds of other adware applications similar to CasinoRewards also claiming to provide various useful features.
For example, shopper-z, zoomapp, and openbrowserversion. None, including CasinoRewards, provide any real value for the user - the purpose of these adware applications is to generate revenue by the display of intrusive online advertisements and sharing collected data with third parties.
For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall CasinoRewards adware from your system immediately.
CasinoRewards is often distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites such as soft32.com, softonic.com, downloads.com, and many others.
Download managers supposedly ease the download process, however, they are used to monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of third party applications together with the chosen software. These promoted apps are described as 'legitimate and virus-free', however, most are considered to be adware or malware.
To prevent computer infections, closely analyse each step of the free software download procedure and ensure that no other applications are included. Furthermore, downloaded software should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out.
