WebVeil removal instructions
What is WebVeil?
WebVeil is a dubious Chromium-based Internet browser claiming to significantly improve loading speeds and browsing security. On initial inspection, this application might appear legitimate and useful, however, WebVeil is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware, since it generates intrusive online advertisements, causes unwanted browser redirects, and monitors browsing activity. Furthermore, this PUP often infiltrates systems without users’ permission.
WebVeil generates various intrusive online advertisements that do not originate from users' visited websites. To achieve this, developers of WebVeil employ a 'virtual layer', which enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Bear in mind that displayed advertisements often conceal underlying web content. Furthermore, some redirect to malicious sites often containing infectious content. In fact, WebVeil also causes unwanted browser redirects to the isearch.appiance.com website. This behavior significantly diminishes the Internet browsing experience. WebVeil gathers various browsing-related information, some which is personally identifiable. The developers of WebVeil share this recorded data with third parties who often misuse it to generate revenue. This poses a direct threat to users' privacy and, therefore, information-tracking apps such as WebVeil should be uninstalled immediately.
This PUP is very similar to TheBrowser, BrowserAir, Chromodo, Olcinium, Chedot, and many other deceptive Chromium-based web browsers. All falsely claim to provide 'valuable' functionality - simply measures to trick users to install. Rather than providing any real value for users, these programs simply track users' Internet browsing activity, generate intrusive advertisements, and cause unwanted browser redirects.
How did WebVeil install on my computer?
Although WebVeil is free for anyone to download on its official website, many users install it inadvertently, since they do not express enough caution when downloading and installing applications. Aware of this, developers often 'bundle' additional software and conceal it within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings. Users who rush the download and installation processes simply expose their systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Adware-type applications are often concealed and, therefore, the key to computer safety is caution. Closely analyze the download and installation processes using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Furthermore, all additionally-included apps should be cancelled, since there is a high probability that they will be malicious.
