Call Box Adware

What is Call Box?
Call Box (by Media Hub) is a dubious application that claims to enable a number of 'valuable functions', however, these are simply attempts to trick users to install.
Research shows that Call Box often infiltrates systems without users’ permission. Furthermore, this deceptive application continually gathers various user/system information and displays intrusive online advertisements. Therefore, Call Box is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
This PUP uses a 'virtual layer' to generate pop-up, banner, coupon, and other similar advertisements. Many users are unaware that none of these ads originate from their visited websites. By concealing underlying website content, third party advertisements significantly diminish the web browsing experience.
Furthermore, some lead to malicious websites - even an accidental click can cause further computer infections. Call Box continually monitors users' web browsing activity by gathering various information that might be personally identifiable. Examples include IP addresses, website URLs visited, and search queries entered into search engines.
This information is shared with third parties who often misuse private details to generate revenue. This behavior might lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you uninstall Call Box adware immediately.
Adware-type applications have similar characteristics. All give fake promises to enhance the web browsing experience in certain ways, and yet, none deliver any real value for regular users.
Applications including Call Box, GamesCake, GamesFlight, GamesLagoon, etc. are designed only to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the functionality promised, these applications track users' web browsing activity, deliver intrusive online advertisements, and occasionally cause unwanted browser redirects.
How did Call Box install on my computer?
Call Box is distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular (usually legitimate) software. Research shows that many users do not express enough caution when downloading and installing software.
Therefore, hiding PUPs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of these procedures is effective. Many users rush and skip this section, usually leading to inadvertent installation of additional unwanted programs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
To prevent system infiltration by PUPs, be very cautions when downloading and installing software. Analyze these procedures using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' settings. Furthermore, all additionally-included programs should be cancelled. Bundled applications are often dubious and, thus, should never be installed.
