Ex1gent.com POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is ex1gent.com?
ex1gent.com is a rogue site similar to related.ai, zippnewsupdate.info, mv0129.stream, and many others. As usual, visitors arrive at ex1gent.com inadvertently - they are redirected by intrusive ads or potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) that infiltrate systems without consent.
As well as causing redirects, unwanted applications deliver intrusive advertisements and gather information relating to browsing activity.
After system infiltration, unwanted applications start opening new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to ex1gent.com. Immediately after visiting this site, they encounter a number of additional redirects to other dubious websites, at least one of which is likely to contain malicious content.
Therefore, redirects caused by ex1gent.com can result in various computer infections. Potentially unwanted apps deliver coupon, banner, pop-up, and other similar advertisements that might also redirect to infectious sites or even run scripts that download/install malware.
Therefore, clicking them could also lead to system infections. Intrusive ads are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. They are, therefore, likely to conceal underlying content, significantly diminishing the browsing experience.
Unwanted apps are also notorious for display of intrusive advertisements. Research shows that most gather data such as IP addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and so on. Collected data often includes personal details that developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue.
Therefore, having a data-tracking app installed on your computer can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to eliminate unwanted applications immediately.

There are hundreds of potentially unwanted applications, all of which are virtually identical. Most offer "useful features", but these are just attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.
The only purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than giving any real value for regular users, they cause redirects, deliver ads, and gather data, thus diminishing the browsing experience and posing a threat to your privacy and browsing safety.
How did adware install on my computer?
In some cases, unwanted apps have official download websites, however, most infiltrate computers without permission, since developers proliferate them using "bundling" and intrusive advertising methods. "Bundling" is essentially stealth installation of third party apps with regular software/apps.
Developers are not honest enough to disclose installation of potentially unwanted applications properly, and thus most are hidden within "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download/installation processes. Furthermore, many users often rush download/installation processes and skip steps. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
In most cases users are those responsible for computer infections. Poor knowledge of these threats and rushing steps are the main reasons for system infections - caution is the key to safety. Therefore, pay close attention when browsing the internet and downloading/installing software.
Carefully analyze all steps of the download/installation processes and opt-out of additionally-included apps. Download software from official sources only (via direct download links) and avoid using third party downloaders/installers, since most are monetized using the "bundling" method.
Most intrusive ads may seem legitimate, but often redirect to dubious sites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on). If you encounter them, immediately remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
