How to remove wysasys[.]com from Mac?

What is wysasys[.]com?

Wysasys[.]com is a website address that gets opened by a browser after clicking on various links that are displayed on various websites. In other words, there are people who are forced to visit wysasys[.]com when they click on a link that supposed to open a completely different URL. It is very likely that a browser behaves like this when it has some potentially unwanted application (PUA) installed. Typically, people do not install applications of this type intentionally.

wysasys[.]com scam

People who are forced to visit wysasys[.]com can access the desired page only after clicking its link for a couple (or more) times. Redirects to addresses like wysasys[.]com usually are caused by PUAs that infiltrate operating systems (or browsers) without user's knowledge. Unfortunately, unwanted redirects is not the only problem that PUAs cause. Quite often apps of this type feed users with intrusive ads that are designed to open shady or even malicious pages. In some cases they run scripts that lead to unwanted downloads or even installations. Typically, these ads are displayed in forms of coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups and so on. Another common problem with PUAs is information tracking. These apps gather IP addresses, addresses of visited websites, geolocations, entered search queries, etc. In some cases they target sensitive details too. People who develop PUAs usually share all gathered data with other parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. These are the main reasons why it recommended not to have various PUAs installed and avoid their installations in the future.

There is a great number of PUAs that redirect people to a variety of questionable pages. Some examples of other shady sites that are being opened by PUAs are rgvqcsxqge[.]com, 50million[.]club, qsearch[.]com and so on. As a rule, people install unwanted apps that cause redirects to dubious pages unintentionally. However, if they do it willingly, then mostly because developers promote these apps as useful, legitimate and do not warn potential users about possible consequences.

How did potentially unwanted applications install on my computer?

Very often people download and install apps of this type unintentionally, they are being tricked into it. To achieve it, people who develop them use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". It is used to trick people into downloading and installing unwanted apps together with other, intentionally downloaded or/and installed programs by hiding them in their setups. Typically, information about bundled apps is hidden in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar parts (settings). People unintentionally allow for unwanted apps to be downloaded or installed when they leave all settings available in various setups unchecked and unchanged. In other cases they cause it by clicking unreliable, deceptive advertisements. Some ads can execute scripts that lead to unwanted downloads and installations.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

To prevent various unwanted apps from being downloaded and installed, always download software from official, trustworthy websites and direct download links. Other download (or installation) sources such as third party downloaders, installers, unofficial web pages, Peer-to-Peer networks (like torrent clients, eMule) and so on should not be trusted or used. Another important thing is not to complete any download or installation without checking settings like "Custom", "Advanced" that are available in the setup and dismissing offers to download or install some PUA. Furthermore, we do not recommend to click intrusive ads (especially if they are shown on dubious pages). These ads lead to malicious, deceptive websites or unwanted downloads, installations. If redirects to shady websites or appearing unwanted ads is a regular problem, then we recommend to check what extensions, plug-ins, add-ons that are installed on a browser and to remove all unwanted, suspicious entries as soon as possible. If there are some programs of this kind installed on the operating system, they should be uninstalled too. If your computer is already infected with PUAs, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate them.
