searchred01.xyz redirect removal instructions
What is searchred01.xyz?
searchred01.xyz is promoted through a potentially unwanted application (PUA), a browser hijacker called Suxs APP. This address might also be promoted by other apps of this type. Typically, browser hijackers promote fake search engines by changing certain browser settings. Most gather browsing-related information as well. Browser hijackers are categorized as PUAs, since users often download and install them inadvertently.
Typically, browser hijackers modify settings such as the address of the default search engine, homepage, and new tab. Their main purpose is to ensure that users visit a specific address when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar. When used to search, searchred01.xyz displays results generated by a dubious search engine (s3arch.page). Note that s3arch.page is opened through searchmes.xyz (another dubious address). Commonly, these bogus search engines display misleading results (i.e., they include other dubious web pages in the results). Therefore, do not use searchred01.xyz, s3arch.page or other search engines of this type. Typically, browser hijackers prevent users from undoing the changes that were made to the settings. Therefore, to remove searchred01.xyz from the aforementioned browser settings, it is necessary to uninstall Suxs APP and other PUAs that promote this address. Furthermore, browser hijackers often gather browsing data such as IP addresses, entered search queries, addresses of visited pages, and geolocations. They might also record sensitive, personal details. The developers sell the information to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misuse it to generate revenue in other ways. These actions can lead to problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety, and some people might even become victims of identity theft.

There are many dubious, fake search engines on the internet (e.g., pdfmagicsearch.com, protectionapps.live, smashapps.net). Typically, their URLS appear in browser settings after installation of browser hijackers. These apps are useless to regular users and can cause serious problems. Therefore, browser hijackers should never be downloaded or installed.
How did searchred01.xyz install on my computer?
In most cases, browser hijackers and other PUAs are distributed by including them into the set-ups of other programs. This distribution method is known as "bundling". Developers use it to trick people into downloading and/or installing PUAs together with their required software. PUAs are included into set-ups as 'additional offers', which can be found in settings such as "Custom" or "Advanced". Many users leave them unchecked and unchanged, thereby agreeing by default with offers to download and install unwanted apps. Clicking deceptive advertisements can also allow PUAs to infiltrate, when the ads execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to download files and programs only from official websites and via direct links. Other sources and tools such as third party downloaders (and installers) Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients), unofficial websites are often used to distribute PUAs, and even malicious programs. Check all settings such as "Custom" and "Advanced" and decline offers to download or install potentially unwanted apps. Do not click advertisements that appear on dubious, untrusted pages, since they can open other dubious web pages or cause unwanted downloads and installations. Remove all unwanted, unknown extensions, add-ons and plug-ins that are installed the browser, and programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with browser hijackers, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate it.
