Q1G Ransomware

What is Q1G?

Like many other programs of this type, Q1G ransomware is designed to lock files by encryption. It also renames them by adding the ".Q1G" extension plus a personal ID and email address to the filenames. For example, "1.jpg" becomes "1.jpg.id-1E857D00.[getbtc@aol.com].Q1G".

Q1G also creates a text file ("RETURN FILES.txt") and displays a pop-up window. This ransomware is another variant of Dharma, and this version was discovered by Jakub Kroustek.

Kovasoh Ransomware

What is Kovasoh?

Discovered by Michael Gillespie, Kovasoh is ransomware that is part of the Djvu ransomware family. Like most programs of this type, Kovasoh is designed to encrypt files and demand ransom payments. It also changes the names of encrypted files by adding the ".kovasoh" extension.

For example, "1.jpg" becomes "1.jpg.kovasoh". Instructions about how to contact the cyber criminals who designed Kovasoh can be found in the "_readme.txt" text file.

   
Lotej Ransomware

What is Lotej?

Discovered by Michael Gillespie, Lotej belongs to the Djvu ransomware family and encrypts files (thereby rendering them inaccessible) and keeps them locked unless a ransom is paid. Programs of this type are called ransomware. Lotej adds the ".lotej" extension to each encrypted file.

For example, "sample.jpg" becomes "sample.jpg.lotej". Lotej also creates a text file containing a ransom message called "_readme.txt".
