Also Known As: Ads by 1stkissmanga.com
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is 1stkissmanga[.]com?

1stkissmanga[.]com is an untrusted website, hosting various manhua, manhwa, and manga series. I.e., this site allows users to read Chinese, Korean, and Japanese comics online.

As well as infringing copyright laws, this website also uses rogue advertising networks. Therefore, visitors to 1stkissmanga[.]com are presented with dubious/dangerous content and redirected to other bogus and even malicious pages.

You are strongly advised against visiting and/or using 1stkissmanga[.]com.

1stkissmanga[.]com

Sites that employ rogue advertising networks can force-open sale-based pages (of both legitimate and fraudulent products), untrusted, compromised, deceptive/scam, and malicious web pages.

Alternatively, the websites can cause redirects to various bogus/harmful pages when buttons, links, ads, and other content presented in them is clicked.

For example, 1stkissmanga[.]com has been observed redirecting to the pushails.com rogue web page and promoting the "Your system is heavily damaged by Two viruses!" scam.

Furthermore, most rogue sites host intrusive advertisements (pop-ups, banners, coupons, full-page, etc.). These ads promote similarly hazardous web pages. Some intrusive ads can even be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to download/install Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) without users' consent.

PUAs are proliferated via intrusive ads and untrusted download channels (e.g., unofficial and freeware websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders).

These applications usually seem legitimate and offer "useful" functionalities, which are rarely operational. Fake anti-viruses are prime examples of such PUAs - they require activation (i.e., purchase) to perform the features, yet following activation, they remain nonoperational.

PUAs can also have dangerous functionalities, and these functions can be in different combinations. Some of these apps can force-open bogus/dangerous sites. Adware-types run intrusive advertisement campaigns.

Browser hijackers are other PUAs, which operate by making alterations to browsing settings and restricting/denying access to them in order to promote fake search engines. The promoted web searchers rarely can provide search results, and so they redirect to Google, Bing, Yahoo, and other legitimate search engines.

Furthermore, most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. Information of interest includes browsing and search engine histories, IP addresses, geolocations, and personally identifiable details. The collected data is then shared with and/or sold to third-parties.

In summary, this unwanted software can lead to system infections, serious privacy issues, financial loss, and identity theft. To protect device and user safety, all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be removed immediately upon detection.

Arenabg.chliveonscore.tvyoutube-to-mp3.orgx2convert.comgogoanime.so, and torrentfunk.com are some examples of other websites using rogue advertising networks. This is a particularly common site monetization technique.

Visiting and/or using pages of this kind can result in a wide variety of serious problems. Due to the widespread nature of rogue websites, exercise caution when browsing.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".

By rushing through download/installation of software (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.) many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well. When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission.

Some PUAs have "official" download web pages from which they can be downloaded.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

You are advised to research all software before download/installation. Use only official and verified download channels. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks (BitTorrent, Gnutella, eMule), and other third party downloaders commonly offer harmful and bundled content, and are therefore untrusted and should be avoided.

When downloading/installing, read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, and so on.

Intrusive advertisements typically seem legitimate, however, they can redirect to dubious and malicious sites (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and many others). If you encounter ads or redirects of this kind, inspect the system and remove all dubious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately.

Installed programs must be activated and updated with tools or implemented functions that are provided by the official developers. No other third party, unofficial tools should be used.

Note that it is illegal to activate licensed software with ‘cracking’ tools. Files and programs should be downloaded from official websites and via direct download links. Avoid third party installers and the tools/sources mentioned above.

Do not open website links or files in irrelevant emails that are received from unknown, suspicious addresses. These bogus emails are often disguised as official and important. Regularly, scan your computer with reputable, up-to-date antivirus or anti-spyware software.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
